Ok it been quite awhile since I did my first article on emerging UK and Irish bands and solo artists for mirollo. But things get away from you sometimes, anyway back on track with some new bands on the rise!! This time only 10 bands, then in a couple of months, I will return with another 10 for ya!!

Firstly a quick update on some of the bands I featured last time, so from the 15 bands featured only two have bitten the dust, not a bad ratio for indie bands. Check the first article here in Mi Rollo

The bands I

The bands II

And so on to the next set of bands!! I will add links for their music via spotify, bandcamp site, where available, so go and check out their music!!! Coz that’s all that really matters, some bands you will like some you will hate, but that’s the great thing about music, it’s your opinion that counts!! Make up your own mind on bands don’t be lead by music writers or reviews, USE YOUR EARS.

First up we have Fresh who are four piece pop punk band, who are based in the Capital London. They are comprised of Kathryn Woods on guitar and vocals, Joely Smith also on guitar and vocals, George Phillips on bass and vocals, together with Daniel Goldberg on the drums. They are still unsigned and share their music via bandcamp, where they have a few albums, singles, EP’s and some live stuff go take a listen. Bandcamp  Spotify

The bands III

On to band number two! And up to the north west and Manchester shoegaze (dreampop) / alternate rockers Cruush. They consist of singer, guitarist and lyricist Amber Warren, Arthur Boyd on guitar, Fotis Kalantzis on the drums and bassist Ru Cowl. They have been sharing music via their bandcamp site since May 2020. There you will find a couple of EP’s and five singles, hopefully a debut album will appear at some point this year or early 2025.  Bandcamp  Spotify

While here in the home of The Smith and New Order, let’s take a look at PAVÉ, who formed while at University in 2019 and since 2022, these guys have released about 12 singles (but that could be 13 by now) and an EP. Led by the powerful vocals of Alanya-Jade, with Kevin on the guitar, Meg on the Bass and Ben on the drums. Their energy resonates with the likes of Alternative trailblazers such as Bad Omens, Yonaka, Bring Me The Horizon, and Royal Blood. Spotify

On to band number four and we leave Manchester down the M62 to Liverpool to meet Keyside, they are an indie pop foursome, comprised of Dan Parker on the acoustic guitar and vocals, Ben Cassidy on the lead guitar, Oisin MaAvoy on the drums and finally Max Gibson on the bass and backing vocals. To date the guys have recorded four singles and an EP between 2022 and now, hopefully there is going to be an album very soon. Their sound is The Coral mixed with The La’s. Spotify

The bands IV

While here in the ‘Pool’ let check out Beatowls a collective mainly comprised of producer and musician Carl Cook, with vocalists Darcie Chazen and Tom Roberts. They released their debut album Marma in 2023, with three singles shared from said album. Their sound is trip-hop reflecting the hustle and bustle of Liverpool’s urban-industrial mood and the introspective serenity of life.  Spotify

So we are now going to visit Nottingham in the midlands and three piece all female alternative rockers, GIRLBAND! who are comprised of Georgie, Kay and Jada. The girls have just released the two singles so far, via bandcamp and spotify, one on each. Hopefully a new single or their debut EP will be released very soon.  Bandcamp  Spotify

Now we travel north of the border into the land where the Haggis roams (lol) for band number seven. Hailing from originally from remote hills of North Yorkshire, they relocated to the Scottish capital Edinburgh. The band are Dubinski (their late mother’s maiden name), they are four inseparable siblings, Eugene, Fergus, Donal and Eoin Gaine. Their self titled debut album was released on the 22nd November 2022, together with numerous singles since 2014. They are set to release their second album as yet untitled, sometime in 2024. Bandcamp  Spotify

The bands V

We leave the Scottish capital and back to England’s, London for a couple of bands before we head of the south coast for our final band. Band number eight are Bears In Trees, a self proclaimed Dirtbag Boyband from South London. They are comprised of George Berry on the drums, Iain Gillespie on bass and vocals, Callum Litchfield on the lead vocals and Nick Peters on the guitar. They have release numerous singles, EP’s and albums, but are still under the radar. Bandcamp  Spotify

Staying south of the river Thames we visit band number nine, who are a four piece post punk rock band called Talk Show. They consist of vocalist Harrison Swann, bassist George Sullivan, drummer Chloe MacGregor, and guitarist Tom Holmes. Again another band finally breaking through after many singles and EP’s, they have released since 2019, they released their debut album this year entitled Effigy. Maybe 2024 is going to be their year!! Bandcamp  Spotify

So to our last band for this article, we head south from the capital to the seaside town of Brighton on England’s south coast and all girl four piece indie rock band Lime Garden. After sharing a many singles with us, the girls shared their debut album One More Thing in the February 2024. They are comprised of Chloe Howard on guitar and vocals, Leila Deeley on the lead guitar, Tippi Morgan on the bass and Annabel Whittle on the drums. Meeting originally in Guildford, the band changed its name from LIME to Lime Garden, when they relocated to sunny Brighton. They are signed to So Young Records, a partner label of Communion Records. Again another band that has finally broke through having formed back 2017. Bandcamp  Spotify

The end

So that’s all folks as the say on the cartoons, I’ll be back in two or three months, with more UK and Irish band to introduce to you.  Hope you have enjoyed some of the bands, if not all of the bands, I have shared with you. Next time we are going to visit Ireland (north and south of the border) and Scotland. Then the time after that we will visit England and Wales.

Remember use your ears and listen to a much new music as you can, which can mean old bands. New music isn’t just new bands, but bands you have maybe missed in the past, I am still discovering bands I don’t know going back 60 years. And to any bands out there reading this article, keep the faith and just keep plugging away at it, as it shows here it takes some bands longer to break through than others. On your social media sites, try to put as much information about the band as you can, links to your music try to keep it up to date. But most importantly keep writing and gigging and hopefully you will make the break through!!
